The Sizzler-Style Toast Recipe!
Posted: 12/09/2024
I’m not sure how many people got to experience Sizzler, but it was quite the experience back in the day.
Sizzler was an all-you-can-eat restaurant, and one of the highlights was the cheese toast they’d serve while you waited in line. I still remember my last visit about 13 years ago in Cairns. The buffet was endless, but it was that warm, cheesy toast that stuck with me.
Recently, we put a special on our menu that included a side of Sizzler-style toast, and it was a huge hit. People couldn’t get enough of it, and we’ve had so many requests for just the bread. It got me thinking about how simple and satisfying that cheese toast was, and I thought I’d share the recipe for those who want to bring a bit of Sizzler nostalgia back home.
The original recipe was straightforward: just margarine and pecorino cheese. You simply mix them together 50/50 spread the mixture on a slice of bread, and toast it in a non-stick pan or sandwich press until golden and crispy.
If pecorino is out of the budget, there’s an alternative that still captures that taste. You can mix butter with Kraft grated parmesan—the kind you find in the pasta aisle. The Coles brand parmesan is cheaper, but it doesn’t work quite as well for this recipe.
You are welcome! 🙏
