What happeend to our Invermay location
and El Chapos?

We’ve been asked a few times about what happened to our Invermay site and El Chapos. The short answer is: our lease was up for renewal, and we decided not to renew it. Here’s why.

Over the last two years, the economic conditions haven’t been favorable for where we sit in the market. Simply put, fewer people are walking through the doors, and they’re spending less. Meanwhile, rents, insurance, and overheads keep climbing like clockwork.

Our mission has always been to “serve restaurant quality meals at affordable prices.” But when costs rise, our only option is to raise prices—something we’ve tried hard to avoid. That’s only part of the story, though. The other part is the growth of our corporate and wedding catering services, which are thriving. Personally, I love catering weddings. There’s no vibe quite like it—the energy, the celebration, the joy!

This year, El Chapos is fully booked for the wedding season and will travel thousands of kilometres across the state to make these special days unforgettable.

The challenges also impacted employment opportunities for our current and future staff. With two locations, catering, and events, we’ve been stretched thin. By letting go of the Invermay site, we’re focusing our energy and resources on what we do best: delivering amazing food and experiences through our catering services and events and other site in South Launceston.

We’re incredibly grateful for all the support you’ve given us at Invermay and beyond. As we move forward, we’re excited to continue sharing our passion for great food with you in new and exciting ways.

Lots of love and good vibes, from Ben and the FFD team.
